Hi, thanks for checking out my new blog!
My name is Dan Elmore, and I serve as pastor of Parkview United Methodist Church in Newport News, VA. I’m 26 years old and love what I do. My passions for ministry include preaching, teaching and reclaiming the Wesleyan traditions and background of the United Methodist Church.
This is just a place for me to post thoughts and ramblings as they occur. Note that all views and opinions expressed herein are my own and do not speak for the church that I pastor or for the United Methodist Church.
Enjoy!

Dan, I thought this might be as good a place as any to make a confession to you, so here it is. Not too long ago I attended at funeral at Parkview and couldn’t help but notice the message on your church sign out front – “Call 911 This church is on fire!” When I read that I loved it…and it stuck in my mind. And it made me think of the church I pastor. In fact, I built a sermon around my thoughts…asking my congregation, “Are WE on fire? Or do we need a sign out front that says, ‘Come in and relax…we’re very comfortable here!’?” People laughed, but people also THOUGHT…and that was the idea. Thank you for your inspiration! It sure preached! Got any more good sign ideas?? Somerton UMC might be getting them as sermons!
